Mallorca, April 30, 2022. The twelfth edition of the Mallorca 312 celebrates a new success with the participation of 8,000 cyclists who began the race from Playa de Muro at 6:30 a.m. A day in which the sun prevailed and where participants have enjoyed the most emblematic heights of the Serra de Tramuntana and the north of the island. . Ivan Basso, wearing bib number 312 has led the race next to Alberto Contador, Miguel Indurain, Sean Kelly, Joseba Beloki and the CEO of Supersapiens, Phil Sourtherland.

The race has taken place without any outstanding incidents and everything has gone according to plan. Participants have pedaled through Mallorca completing the distances of 167, 225 or 312 kilometers.

Honoree Ivan Basso, has highlighted the environment and the landscapes upon his arrival. “I wanted to enjoy the road and the atmosphere that exists in the 312. It is amazing to ride with so many people and see how they cheer for the first and last participants”, said the double winner of the Giro de Italia in 2006 and 2010.

The first cyclist to complete the 312 kilometers was Belgian Olivier Godfroid, who finished the race in 9 hours, 1 minute and 10 seconds. His time is faster than the last edition in 2021 but he has not beat the 2019 record set by fellow Belgian cyclist, Bart Van Damme with a time of 8 hours, 49 minutes and 13 seconds. The top three to join Godfroid were Job Sueters and Patrick Reissig, respectively after a tight sprint.

In the women’s category, Joke Wijk, from the Netherlands, has completed the 312 kilometers in 10 hours, 34 minutes and 55 seconds, ahead of Syvia Hermans (10:42:53) and Yvonne Margraf (10h47:02).

The first cyclist to arrive in the intermediate 225 race was Sebastian Fritz with a time of 6 hours, 38 minutes and 31 seconds. This is the third fastest time since this distance was celebrated. Fritz beat Mallorcan, Pere Amengual and the third to arrive, who won the 312 race in the previous edition, was Dominic Aigner.

Among the successes of the day, we must highlight the female winner of the 225, Nikki Alberts (7:59:57) who was the winner of the Mallorca 312 during the last edition. Shortly after, Jessica Anand (8:25:32) and Val Ravenhill (8:37:16) crossed the finish line.

The first to arrive at Playa de Muro were participants of the 167 kilometers. Anton Albrecht won here with a time of 4 hours, 37 minutes and 27 seconds, followed by Wojciech Szczepanik and Jaume Moncadas, arriving second and third across the finish line at the Playa de Muro, respectively. On her behalf, the first woman to complete the 167 kilometers was Lydia Boylan with a time of 5 hours, 10 minutes and 25 seconds ahead of Sandra Hohl (5:18:15) and Elisabeth Floren (5:29:19).

The five-time winner of the Tour de France, Miguel Indurain, noted the great work of the organization. . “The race was amazing, as always. The great atmosphere, unique landscapes and everything else makes it difficult to find in any other Gran Fondo like this one”, stated former cyclist from Navarra.

With the arrival of the last participants and the reception of the Dimonis, the Mallorca 312 has come to an end and the final party has taken place with the award ceremony at the Expo stage.

After this success, the countdown begins for the 2023 edition to be held on April 29. This gives everyone time to train, think and achieve the challenge of the Mallorca 312.
